• Patients with a thin tracheoesophageal wall, i.e., 6mm or less.

Blom-Singer Duckbill Voice Prostheses - RxThe Duckbill is a 16 Fr. silicone, one-way slit valve prosthesis designed for placement in a passage between the trachea and the esophagus for voice restoration following laryngectomy. The one-way slit valve of the Duckbill protects the airway during swallowing and opens under positive pressure so that air crosses into the esophagus to produce voice. The Duckbill is a patient-maintained device; the patient may insert, remove and clean the device independently. Available in a range of lengths from 6mm to 18mm.

Oral Adapter

Optical Battery Control
A flashing red light on the SERVOX®digital indicates that the battery is low and requires charging. An elaborate energy management system extends the battery life and prevents deep discharge.

Processor-Controlled Battery Charger
The intelligent charging technology ensures simple, safe and rapid recharging of the SERVOX battery. The battery can be left in the SERVOX® digital during charging. A replacement battery can be charged at the same time.

More Individuality
The digital electronic can be connected to a PC with an USB cable and is available as an accessory. In addition to the basic manual settings the prosody, frequency and volume can be set and stored with the SERVOX® digital Software. This enables professionals to file different settings for each patient.

Blom-Singer® ADVANTAGE® Indwelling Voice Prosthesis — Rx

The ADVANTAGE indwelling voice prosthesis is the newest advancement in Blom-Singer voice restoration. Silver oxide has been incorporated into the prosthesis as a material preservative. The ADVANTAGE is placed by the clinician in the tracheoesophageal puncture so that routine changing of a voice prosthesis is unnecessary. It is ideal for laryngectomees who are unable or resistant to changing a removable voice prosthesis, such as the Duckbill or Low Pressure styles. The ADVANTAGE is inserted and replaced on an as needed basis by a speech pathologist or physician only.

Available in two diameter sizes, 16 Fr. and 20 Fr., and a range of lengths from 4 mm to 22 mm. Includes nonsterile voice prosthesis for secondary/replacement procedures; with insertion/cleaning accessories.

In 1978, Drs. Singer and Blom pioneered the methods of tracheoesophageal puncture and valved silicone voice prostheses that over the past 30 years have become the international standard for voice restoration, allowing thousands of patients worldwide to regain their ability to speak. By creating a small surgical passage just inside the stoma, from the back wall of the trachea into the esophageal wall, a voice prosthesis can be placed into this passage to enable tracheoesophageal speech. Voice is produced by temporarily blocking the stoma so that exhaled air from the lungs can be directed from the trachea through the prosthesis into the esophagus and then out through the mouth. Fluent, conversational speech may be acquired within just a few days.

Blom-Singer voice prostheses are available as patient-maintained (ex: Duckbill, Low Pressure) or clinician-maintained (ex: Indwelling). Standard products are designed to accommodate most anatomies; special order product size/styles are also available.
